Vehicle History Report

Offered for sale is this 1966 Shelby GT 350 which was restored about 15 years ago and has been properly maintained since. It has received limited use since restoration with only 3000 miles added to the odometer. The title at time of purchase in 2004 stated 41,564 and today reads less than 45,000 miles. A period correct replacement motor was installed sometime in the past and it has the correct Borg Warner T-10 transmission. The car was inspected prior to purchase in 2004 and states that the steel panels and fiberglass hood are original. This Shelby GT 350 is in exceptional condition and has received limited use since restoration. Information Regarding the Shelby GT350

The Shelby Mustang was built by Shelby America from 1965 to 1968, and from 1969 to 1970 by Ford Motor Car Company. The 1965 and 1966 G.T. 350s were delivered from Ford’s San Jose assembly plant with body in white for modification by Carroll Shelby’s operation, originally located in Venice Beach and later at the Los Angeles International Airport.

The 1965-1966 cars were the smallest and lightest of the GT 350 models. All 1965-66 cars featured the K-Code 271 horsepower 289 cubic inch engine that was modified to produce 306 hp. Marketing literature referred to this engine as the Cobra hi-riser due to its high-riser intake manifold. Beginning life as a stock Mustang with a 4-speed manual and 9? live rear axle, the cars were shipped to Shelby American, where they received the high-riser manifolds, Tri-Y headers, and were given larger Ford Galaxie rear drum brakes with metallic-linings. Kelsey-Hayes front disc brakes were also added.

For 1966, the GT 350 lost its Mustang tag and was marketed simply as the Shelby GT 350. The new model year also saw the introduction of four colors in addition to Wimbledon White which was standard in 1965. Now available were Sapphire Blue, Ivy Green Candy Apple Red, and Raven Black. Other changes included special rear quarter-panel windows replacing the factory extractor vents, functional brake scoops on each side. While early 1965 cars had black engine blocks, 1966 and later cars had their engines painted the regular factory Ford dark blue. The 1966 models came with a dual-exhaust exiting in the rear. Fastback production totaled 1373 cars with a list price was $4600. An additional 1000 special edition fastbacks were produced for Hertz.
