This car is the 188th Z8 produced in 2000 for the US market and one of just 667 black over black Z8's produced during the entire production run. This Z8 runs and drives excellent. The beautiful original paint shows very well, we did touch up a few minor chips on the front air dam. With less than 21,000 original miles and an excellent color combination the investment potential is clear. The silky smooth 4941cc 394hp MFI DOHC V8 runs excellent and pulls strong, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission that shifts flawlessly. The original black leather interior is in excellent condition. The original BMW radio sounds great. All original panels are present on this accident free laser straight Z8. Produced on June 26, 2000 in Munich Germany, this example was sold new in Glendale, CA and spent it's life in Southern California. Included is a removable hard top and BMW Motorola flip phone. The BMW Z8 was developed under the codename "E52" between 1993 and 1999, through the efforts of a design team led by Chris Bangle from 1993 to 1995. The exterior was designed by Henrik Fisker and the interior by Scott Lempert up until 1995, when the latter left BMW and styling was approved. The Z8 originally was designed as a styling exercise intended to evoke and celebrate the 1956-1959 BMW 507. Prototypes were spotted in testing between 1996 and 1999. A concept was later developed to preview the Z8, called the Z07 and was showcased in October 1997 at the 1997 Tokyo Auto Show. The BMW Z8 could achieve a 0-60 time of 4.2 seconds. Car and Driver magazine tested the car and found it outperformed the Ferrari 360 Modena in acceleration, handling, and braking.
